Artur Dutkiewicz

Artur Dutkiewicz – outstanding Polish jazz pianist, composer, educator, born in Pinczσw (Poland) in 1958.

He graduated from The Academy of Music in Katowice (Poland) with distinction.

Dutkiewicz was a finalist of the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington, USA.

Since 1987 Artur Dutkiewicz has been teaching piano regularly during annual International Jazz Workshops in Pulawy. In 2006 he led the Master Class during Carthage Jazz Festival in Damascus. He was a chairman of jury at the International Jazz Piano Competition in Vilnius in 2006 and 2008.

He was the first Polish musician who played solo recital at MIDEM in Cannes in 1988.

He performed as a pianist and an actor also (muzitor) in the unique in the world contemporary Instrumental Theater (Gdynia, Poland).

He is a leader of the Artur Dutkiewicz Trio playing modern jazz.

Dutkiewicz took part in many jazz festivals around the world such as: Campnagel Theater – Hamburg, Festival Kleiner Bunchen – Bern, Northsea Jazz Festival – Hague, Jazz Jamboree – Warsaw, Jazz Ost West – Nuremberg, MIDEM – Cannes, Music Oggi – Milan, Festival D`Europe Centrale – Paris, Europe XXL – Vienna, Sziget Festival – Budapest, Carthage Jazz Festival, Jazz Plaza Festival – Havana, Tel Aviv Jazz Festival, Glasgow Jazz Festival, Duesseldorf Jazz Rally.

Artur Dutkiewicz is also one of the few jazz pianists in Europe, who play solo.

He presented his solo recitals in many concert halls, among them: Washington, Los Angeles, Cannes, Berlin, Glasgow, Hongkong, Kanton, Pekin, Vienna, Sankt Petersburg, Moscow, Prague, Hawana, Tibilisi, Saloniki, Baku, Damascus, The Royal Castle in Warsaw and many more in Poland.

In the course of his artistic life Dutkiewicz has had a chance to cooperate with Polish and internationally renowned jazz musicians, among others: Tomasz Szukalski, with whom he played in duo and quartet for over 20 years, Zbigniew Namyslowski, Darek Oles Oleszkiewicz, Urszula Dudziak, Grazyna Auguscik, Lora Szafran, Tadeusz Nalepa, Jorgos Skolias, Theodosii Spassov also with Carlos Johnson, Deborah Brown, Michelle Hendrics, Alaine Brunet, Pierre Michelot, Hiram Bulock and many others.

He recorded 5 albums as a leader and many more with other artists.
